The Mitsubishi G4M1 Type 1, also known as the “Betty,” was a Japanese twin-engine bomber used extensively during World War II. Introduced in 1939, the G4M1 was designed for long-range maritime bombing and reconnaissance missions. Its sleek, low-wing design and powerful engines allowed it to cover vast distances, making it a formidable threat to Allied ships and installations. Though lightly armored, the G4M1 was equipped with a significant bomb payload, including torpedoes, and was heavily used in attacks like the attack on Pearl Harbor. Despite its vulnerabilities to enemy fighters, the G4M1 was a key asset in the Pacific theater during the early stages of the war.
