The M60A3 Patton was a Cold War-era main battle tank that represented the final and most advanced version of the M60 series. Entering service in the late 1970s, it featured improved fire control systems, including a laser rangefinder and ballistic computer, greatly increasing first shot accuracy. Armed with a 105 mm M68 cannon, it could effectively engage enemy armor at long distances. Upgraded stabilization and thermal imaging allowed for better targeting in low visibility conditions. Powered by a diesel engine, the M60A3 balanced mobility with durability. It served extensively with U.S. forces and allied nations, remaining operational in several countries well into the late twentieth century.
