The M24 Chaffee was an American light tank introduced in late World War II as a replacement for the earlier Stuart series. Designed to improve firepower and crew efficiency, it featured a 75 mm main gun capable of engaging enemy infantry positions and lightly armored vehicles. Its torsion bar suspension and twin Cadillac engines provided excellent mobility, allowing it to maneuver quickly across difficult terrain. Though lightly armored, it relied on speed and agility for survival. The tank had a five man crew, including a dedicated loader, which improved combat performance. The M24 saw action in Europe and the Pacific and remained in service with various nations well into the Cold War era.
